Over the last week and not seven days this time.

Well, yes, we. We didn't actually have an episode last week. We had way too many things to do and you weren't feeling well, so we had a week off. We apologise to those viewers and listeners who are relying on our podcast to take them through the week. We apologise for that. But we are now back and we have lots to talk about. Would you like to go first or shall I?

Well, first of all, before we start, you'll notice we are in a slightly different location. I think we have done one of these before, but we are sitting at Taylor's desk in his flat/office and that's why it's a slightly different view to normal. But let's get straight into it. I want to talk about the remaining parts of Pop! So, as I mentioned before, Taylor and I were at this big bubble convention taking videos. Turns out there was about 33 videos in total, which is a huge number.

And we took all the video and a lot of it I tried to get edited and uploaded at the time, but I didn't manage to do all of it. And so when I came back, life got in the way, other work got in the way, other projects got in the way. And it's taken until now, which is sort of two weeks after the event, to actually get to a point when all the videos are now done. There is actually still one more video I need to do, but it's going to be a public video and it's a 360, so I need to spend a bit more time on that one. And it's not important for everything else. Because all the attendees are going to get access to all the videos. So, once the videos had all been edited and uploaded, which I've just finished, we then needed to add to the website that we created for the Association of International Bubble Artists to allow them to have a tag for all the attendees to get access to all the videos, and also for those people who aren't attendees to be able to see the videos that are there, but not actually watch them.

And if they go in to click and watch or want to watch one of the videos, it will basically check and come up with basically a screen that says "you don't have access to this, you need to purchase it," and then go through to a form to allow them to purchase it as long as they are allowed to purchase it. So only members can purchase for example. Friends don't have the option to purchase these videos, although there were friends at the event and they do get the videos. So it's all a little bit complex in sort of thinking about and planning for. And you need to have a system where you can add on future events and future videos, and allow those videos to be purchased as well. And so Taylor spent a bit of time working on this and has come up with a system that allows everything to happen. All I needed to do after that was to link Stripe, which I have now done, and make sure all the videos have been uploaded to the site as well. We're hosting on Vimeo because that allows us to protect the videos and then we're displaying them on the website.

And that's really important. We need to keep it with the AOIBA website and stop any distribution of these videos anywhere else, because then we lose the value of those videos if anyone can view them. And the idea is we want people to become members of AOIBA and purchase the videos if they want that content, because lots of people paid lots of money to be an attendee at this event and, you know, same for future events. And so we, we want to make sure that the value is kept in there for all the people who attended because if you have videos and they go online and other people can watch them or, you know, the cost isn't very high, then it devalues actually being at the event. And for these events to be put on, there's quite a lot of money involved. I think the whole event there was about 23, up to £30,000 was spent on the whole event. So, you know, it's not a small in. In. In... It's not a small amount of money. We're talking, you know, a reasonable amount. Insignificant. That's the word that I was trying to think of.

Thank you. So, yeah, Anything you want to say about the. The system you built for that, Taylor?

It's kind of similar to one that I built for Snippet Club a while ago where you can buy one off and it basically just adds a tag and checks if you have that tag, you get access. That's basically all it's doing.

But we also have the slight complication in the fact that only certain people can see certain content as well. So if you're a member or you're a friend, you get different access to different content. So that's a slight complication to that.

Yeah.

But other than that, we should have the system up and running and tested and ready to go, hopefully by the end of the week. And then we're going to have a special discounted price for the videos for members of AOIBA that weren't there to purchase. And that's just going to be a matter of putting your card details in, paying the money and then the tag will be added to you and that will then give everyone who's purchased access. Interestingly, the delegate fee to be there was £230 plus any travel, food and accommodation. And the videos are being priced very similarly. That's a difficult word to say. So there's a discount of 25% until the end of April. So they're going to offer them for £150 and then the price will go up to £200 after that, which is very similar to what people paid to attend there. And I think that's about right because it just, it keeps the value of the content, as I said previously. So that means that anyone who wasn't there or anyone who joins in the future could purchase access to these videos. And I haven't actually checked exactly how much content there is, but there's 33 videos and there's about round numbers, 30 hours worth of content there, which is, you know, a huge amount of content from some very, very well known and experienced people in the bubble industry.

So I think it's quite worthwhile and quite well priced I think for those who are interested. There we go. So that should be up by hopefully the... Well, we've got Easter coming up at the weekend here. This is Good Friday now, so it'll be up probably middle to end of next week. That's what I'm hoping.

What would you like to talk about?

[00:08:20.27] - Taylor
So, I want to talk about being ill and slowing down. So I live a pretty hectic life when it comes to just the day to day. I play a lot of sports, I go to the gym, I have a fair number of set in stone dates and times throughout the week and I'm kind of pretty much go, go, go most of the week. You know, I get up early to go play tennis at half six, for example and then I'm still, you know, going to bed at like 11, midnight and then you know, doing it all again. So I'm kind of always doing something, and I enjoy that. I don't like sitting around doing nothing. And last week I basically sat around and did nothing. I sat around watching daytime TV, was watching things like "Four in a Bed" and it's just absolute garbage, because I ran out of things to watch on YouTube and Netflix and there's only so much my brain can kind of take. Watching the same thing, going through the same things. And I did nothing. I didn't go on my computer, I didn't even look really.

I kept an eye on my emails to make sure there wasn't anything that was broken, but anything that came in that was kind of requests for changes, I kind of just left. And it was nice, it was nice to do nothing. But also I got very bored and struggled with it a bit just because I don't like doing nothing. But I found that it helped a lot with, you know, just having time to think. Having time to just do nothing.

Refocus.

And it was nice. When I was feeling better I kind of got back into, back into life, back into all my different activities and yeah, doing a lot better and also have a lot more clarity and direction. I think it was something my body basically was telling me that I needed to stop and take a break, which I don't do enough. But I also enjoy being busy and doing stuff. So that's most of the reason why.

I'm very similar. That's probably where you get it from in the fact that I always like to be working on things or... We're workaholics basically, aren't we? But we enjoy doing it. It's sort of fun work for us. And so it's not quite the same as your regular 9 to 5 and people staying at the office till midnight. We're working for ourselves, so we're building our own empires and we're doing things that we enjoy and like to do. So it is very different. But you're right, you do get to a point when you sort of burn yourself out or maybe you're burning the candle at both ends because you're getting up very early for networking or going to the gym and then you're going to bed very late because you get into coding and you sort of think, "oh, I've got to just do this last little bit." And you look at the clock and it's two o'clock in the morning and you're thinking, "gotta be up at 6, time to go to bed." But yeah, you do need to sort of listen to what your body says to you.

[00:11:36.05] - Taylor
Yeah, I'm trying to get better. And I think, you know, work life balance is just a myth and just doesn't exist. Um, but I think there are ways that you can make conscious decisions on knowing when to take time. You know, I try now that whenever I make dinner and I'll make food, that I sit on the sofa and watch something, you know, whether that's YouTube or a TV show or something, and not eat at my desk and just try and make that conscious decision so that I am taking time away. Same reason why I haven't put a TV in my bedroom. I don't want to play kind of any video games. I don't really want to encourage watching stuff when I'm in bed because I want to have that for sleeping or whatever.

[00:12:25.04] - Gordon
Very good. Yeah. Well, you've not been ill for a long time, touch wood. Let's hope you don't get ill again anytime soon. But you used to have a situation where you would just become ill and you would lose a week and then maybe a few weeks later you'd have exactly the same. And it was really difficult to plan your life. But since then you've actually, you've been really good, haven't you? So...

[00:12:49.04] - Taylor
Yeah.

[00:12:49.15] - Gordon
It's sort of quite a shock to the system, really, when you can't.

[00:12:53.05] - Taylor
Yeah, keeping active helps me stay active. It sounds silly, but sometimes when you're ill and you just stay in bed, you actually feel worse for longer because your body's kind of in that state. Whereas sometimes if you just get up and out, you know, you tend to just kind of, not power through, but you tend to be better quicker. You know, sometimes if you're ill but still going to work, you end up feeling fine during the rest of the day, whereas if you took the time to spend in bed, you actually feel worse because you spent time in bed and kind of groggy and stuff.

Yeah, very good. But you're feeling 100% now?

Yeah.
